So, I myself am pretty much close to 100% certain that mages will finally get the upperhand over warlocks in both PvP and PvE, for a change. While the only thing warlocks have been given is are mediocre abilities that in most cases would only last 50% of their normal duration against the mage. Then add some other random talent-build dependant nuissances to it, like a blastwave that knocks you back, frostbolts that would stun you, an array of high damage instant attacks, etc. mage duel as you have now, doesn't matter what spec the mage is.īut imagine him as dealing ~15% more DPS than he does now and basically forcing you to use 200% of your normal mana on spells (due to the mage armor). It should also be noted that mage DPS has been buffed substantially in wotlk, and they're still busy with buffing that even further. Thus my opinion is that in WotLK, the roles will finally have turned and that mages will finally be able to easily kick some warlock-butts.īut I think people are really underestimating how much of an impact the -50% duration of harmful magical effects will have. and many more small things that would be a 'pita' for warlocks. (Fire) Immunity against silence and interrupt-effects (rendering the felhunter useless). (Fire) Living Bomb also has a mana drain (and possibly a knockback (this last one is untested yet)) (which will basically interrupt any warlock cast) (Fire) Blast Wave now does a knockback. (Basically increasing the mage's DPS against warlocks substantially). This is the mouseover macro I use for all my healing spells, and it works perfectly for everything except dispel. use mouseover, help, nodead help, nodead player Dispel Magic. Greetings I am having some trouble getting my dispel macro to work. (Arcane) Incanter's Absorption together with Magic Absorption causes it to proc almost constantly by DoTs. Lagspike-duskwood (Lagspike) September 23, 2019, 12:51pm 1. These 2 are the major anti-warlock buffs as far as I can see, then in addition to these there are plenty of other minor buffs (depending on your talent spec) that quickly add up: Even spells like Life Drain seem to be affected by this. Forcing warlocks to use 200% of their mana to output the same kind of DPS as normal on mages. Which basically means that most Warlock DoTs and abilities like fear or haunt etc. Mage Armor: now on top of giving a reasonable amount of spell resistance also causes all harmful magic effects on the mage to only last 50% of their maximum duration. (Unless ofcourse they use curse of elements) Magic Absorption: a passive 80 spellresistance, which should give warlocks at ~15% less chance to hit with spells or averagely do 15% less damage with DoTs. In my opinion most of the mage-changes and new pvp abilities or talents that mages have been given are in 90% of the cases anti-warlock abilities. We had this 'intense' discussion already a few times in many places (guildchat, tradechat, etc.) but what is your opinion?
